Would you fancy some post-modernistic romanticism with some grainy trip-hop beats thrown in for good measure? Sister Overdrive’s new album is now online to fulfill your craving. Grab it in the releases section.
Lots of non-music related stuff going on lately, like a change of headquarters from Athens, GR to Dresden, DE. Lots of music related stuff will be happening soon though. First of all, our next release by Sister Overdrive will go online on July 25th. Are you a dj / reviewer? Contact us for a promo.
Also, to whet your appetite, we have uploaded the sets played by Big Fat Lips and Grounded Circle at Knot Gallery on April 8th. Enjoy:

There’s also a super secret new project we’re working on. More news soon…
So, first of all a big thank you to all the people who came to our last event, the atmosphere was really great. Our next release is being mastered and the first previews will be available soon, maybe even within the week.
Also, we’d like to say ‘farewell’ to one of the most active electronic music portals in Greece: e-djs.gr. For several years it was one of the most active electronic music communities in the country and it set itself apart from all the rest, because it was the only one that focused equally on the appreciation of electronic music and the encouragement of young, talented artists and djs. We sincerely hope that any new attempts on a similar portal will be inspired by the example set by e-djs.
Once again, it’s been quite a long time since the last update. Shortage of free time has severely limited our interaction with the website. This doesn’t mean that we’ll start being sloppy though. On the contrary, everything has been running almost smoothly memoryformat-wise the last almost one year since the previous update, although admittedly a little slowly. In any case, now that we’re back on posting for a while, we’d like to point you towards some stuff happening over here.
First of all, we happily announce that Grounded Circle will be playing live in Athens on Friday, April 9th at Knot Arts gallery, along with Big Fat Lips. Those who attend, apart from enjoying and supporting two really cool livesets, will get to celebrate the 4th birthday of memoryformat with us.
Regarding future releases, an LP by Sister Overdrive is being prepared and will probably be ready for release right before the summer. Customarily, we’ll let one or two tracks slip out before the official release date via our myspace page and this will probably be happening soon. Also, if you are interested in reviewing our next release, get in touch and we’ll provide you with the tunes as soon as they’re mastered.
Next, we have a fresh mixtape for you, lovingly put together by Eskaei. The selection is mainly from the netlabel scene, although a couple of commercially released tunes (yet from small & cool labels) have infiltrated the tracklist, and it’s all about lush, melodic trip-hop with nicely cut up breaks.
Also, you may have noticed our new blog section. It will be used for articles, album reviews, charts and random ramblings related to netlabels and independent music-making. There’s already a first post there, so go ahead, have a peek and comment. If you’d like to send in some music for review or want to otherwise participate, don’t hesitate to contact us.
Finally, a big thank you goes out to all the people who keep showing their appreciation to what we’re doing. Memoryformat may not be the most active netlabel, but each step we take is meticulously prepared, during our very little free time, so that we can give back the best possible result and the tokens of appreciation we receive, such as the two wonderful photographs sent in by Spiros K., is what keeps us going.
ps: we received the attached photos via mail and the crappy available scanner doesn’t do them much justice, but they are still beautiful.
While our stats show that mfm09 is being well received, another track from it got played on Digital::Nimbus radio show. Click here to see the tracklist and here to download the show. Also, Big Fat Lips’s “Now Dub” from mfm08 was included in a mixtape on Mic webzine’s website. You can listen to the mix and read some kind words (in greek) about the track here.
